Janod - Counting Caterpillars

The Janod Counting Caterpillars playfully teach how to make up and compare numbers. This hands on educational game will make the number concept easier to understand by physically displaying and manipulating numbers.

The wooden base, 33 cards, 20 green and blue beads and 2 caterpillar heads, assist children to reproduce the numbers indicated on the game cards. The numbers may be shown as digits, fingers on a hand or polygonal dots (like on a dice).

By stacking and counting the beads onto the wooden stand, a child will get a better understanding of how many beads to add or remove from the caterpillar's body to obtain a given quantity.

Once this first step has been mastered, the concepts of "greater than" and "less than" can be tackled. The instruction leaflet will help you make the most of this educational resource. The game is part of a range developed in collaboration with a school teacher, in order to best replicate the learning process and ensure progress is made at each level.
